Revenge – A Jazz OperaRevenge... well what can I say? No ordinary school play! The plot was brilliant, the cast exeptional, the costumes splended and the music breathtaking. This new Jazz opera by Jools Scott is destined to be a huge success when profesionally produced. However, it was perhaps the young, talented cast from King Edward's school that made this sumtuous tragedy so spectacular. Accompanied by the Jazz band "the Mandibles" this group of young people performed an essentially adult series of events with maturity and insight. It did not matter that their often untrained singing voices did not hit every note, because their passion and dramatic skills were evient throughout. I was dazzled by the work that went into this production and will definately visit when it is in London as "Vice". |
