Festival Procession At Party In The City
Published 4th Apr 2008 by Amanda Costello
Kicking off Party in the City, the biggest free show in Bath, will be the ever-vibrant and celebratory Festival Procession. Featuring visual art produced by young people from Bath and North East Somerset and enthusiastically led by the city's youth, energy is guaranteed to run high, setting the standard for our city-wide celebration of artistic vibrancy and diversity.
Starting at the Pavilion at around 5.30pm, the procession will move through York Street and around the Pump Room in time to reach the Abbey for the open performance of Pete McGarr's 'Home Songs'. Our largest ever commissioned work, this is a huge vocal piece for a 1000 voice choir made up of you, the public!
Join in the fun and create your own magical bird to carry during the procession at one of ten free workshops running in conjunction with the Festival at the Holburne Museum.
Party in the City celebrates the 60th anniversary of Bath's world-renowned Music Festival by bringing alive venues across the city. Enjoy performances in dozens of venues and outdoor spaces, ending with an exciting show in the heart of the city and dancing to Roberto Pla's scintillating Brazilian Orchestra, all completely free.
Event date: Fri 23 May - Event time: Approx. 17.30pm start - Event location: Starting at the Pavilion, moving through the city to the Abbey
